Rodney “Rocky” Seydel has participated in over 1,500 mediations and has been a litigation attorney for over 30 years. His mediations have primarily involved commercial disputes, maritime and oilfield litigation, personal injury matters, and insurance disputes. He participated in over 100 mediations of Hurricane Katrina and Rita insurance claims. In his litigation practice, he has concentrated on general casualty litigation, including medical malpractice, premises liability, automobile liability and products liability. An experienced trial lawyer, he has practiced in all federal district courts in Louisiana, as well as numerous state judicial district and appellate courts. As a member of the Tulane Law Review, he was on the Board of Editors, served as its business manager and was the author of the case note, Status of the Sieracki-Seaman After the 1972 Amendments to the Longshoremen’s and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act which appeared in the Tulane Law Review. He is a former officer of the Young Lawyers Section of the New Orleans Bar Association. He also lectures on issues regarding medical malpractice and premises liability. Mr. Seydel is admitted to practice in Louisiana and before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana. Mr. Seydel resides in New Orleans and is involved in a variety of civic activities.
